Gentle Dental Care For Growing Smiles.
Do you remember going to the dentist when you were a kid? How was your experience? Was it fun and rewarding? Or scary and painful? Unfortunately, for many of us, it leans toward the latter. At Magnolia Family Dentistry, we know how important these early experiences are in forming healthy habits and positive feelings about dental care. That’s why we do everything we can to ensure your child’s first dental visits are anything but scary. Many of our littlest patients actually look forward to coming back!

Set Them Up For Success
All you want is for your child to flourish in life. Get them started on the right foot with quality pediatric dental care. Get in touch with us today to join our dental family.
Gentle Teeth Cleanings For Kids
Oral hygiene is one of the most important factors when it comes to keeping a healthy smile and body, so we make education a priority for our patients who are just learning the ropes.
We’ll show them how to properly brush and floss their teeth so they feel more confident doing it themselves at home.
Our hygiene team is fun, friendly, and gentle to provide fear-free teeth cleanings to take care of any plaque or tartar that has been left behind.
Comprehensive Exams
Regular oral exams are important to ensure that their teeth and bite are developing properly. It’s much easier to catch and treat small problems before they progress and become much more difficult (and expensive) to treat later on.
You should bring your babe in to see Dr. Nels and our team around their second birthday. The sooner you get them comfortable in the dental chair, the easier it will be each time.
Prevention Is The Best Medicine
Fluoride Treatment
In a perfect world, brushing and flossing would be enough to prevent tooth decay, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Tooth decay is the #1 most common disease among kids in America, and can lead to missed school days and developmental problems.
Thankfully, we have fluoride in our tool belt, which is a tried and true way to prevent decay and remineralize the teeth. They can even pick their favorite flavor… yum!
Dental Sealants
If all else fails and your little one is still suffering from decay—or you just want to ensure it doesn’t happen in the first place—we also provide dental sealants for kids. Sealants are a great way to prevent decay.
To apply sealants, we paint over every surface of the tooth to literally seal out decay-causing bacteria and acid, so you can have peace of mind and they can spend their time worrying about… you know, kid stuff!
Sports Mouthguards
Many folks don’t know they can get their child’s athletic mouthguard from their dentist—it’s true! And we highly recommend it, of course. Yes, you can buy stock or boil-and-bite mouthguards from the local sporting goods store, but only a custom mouthguard can provide the best fit and the highest level of protection against oral injuries. Custom mouthguards may even help minimize damage from concussions!
Custom mouthguards are a little pricier than store-bought, but you get what you pay for. This season, give your little athlete the comfort and protection they deserve with a custom mouthguard from Magnolia Family Dentistry.

If your little one isn’t so little anymore, and it’s time to consider straightening their smile, we would love to speak with you about Invisalign Teen®. Invisalign Teen clear aligners are flexible, removable, and virtually invisible so they can keep living their life—and letting their smile shine—throughout treatment.
With our digital imaging technology, the planning process is simple, and you don’t have to drive across town to see an orthodontist. We can manage their orthodontic and oral health needs all under one roof.
Endodontics
If your child is suffering from deep decay that’s reached its way into the tooth chamber, or you’ve noticed signs of infection, you should come see us right away. They may have an infection within the tooth that needs to be treated right away.
Dr. Nels can provide root canal therapy for baby teeth—also known as pulpectomies or pulpotomies—to comfortably and safely remove the infection, sterilize the chamber, and restore the tooth to health. Endodontic therapy can prevent the need for an extraction and save the tooth.
Extractions
We do everything we can to avoid the need for extraction, but sometimes it becomes necessary. Maybe your child has a badly infected tooth that is beyond saving with endodontics, or endodontic treatment has failed. Maybe their teeth are too crowded or they have an improper bite.
Whatever the reason, rest assured they’re in skilled, caring, and gentle hands with Dr. Leaha Nels at Magnolia Family Dentistry. We use a topical anesthetic so they will hardly feel the injection, and we’ll give you post-op instructions to ensure their fastest and most comfortable recovery.
I traveled out of town for a week and broke a tooth AND lost a filling within an hour of arriving in OKC. Dr. Nels was able to get me in that afternoon and put me back together well enough for me to continue my trip. I was able to eat right away and there were no issues afterwards. They also were sensitive to potential insurance complications with follow up charges from my regular dentist. Thanks so much!
- John M.I had a recurring problem with an implant done by my previous dentist. Dr. Nels fixed the issue and I have not had any more problems with a loose implant that would “fall off” at times. I also have a child with special needs who would have to be sedated to have her teeth cleaned. Once again, Dr. Nels, came through! She was able to clean and examine my child’s teeth without sedation. I am very glad to be a patient of Dr. Nels. She is wonderful!
- Elaine H.The staff is super nice and they work with you on payments. They don’t judge you if you haven’t been to the dentist in a while which was very important for me because I haven’t. During my procedure she stop several times and asked me if I needed a break. I greatly appreciate it.
- Cassy H.I’m not going to lie, I was pretty scared to go to the dentist. Although I’ve always taken good care of my teeth, it’s always a scary thought to go to the dentist and find something wrong. I must say this office was fantastic. Ever since I moved to OKC, I‘ve looked for a dentist that will not hurt my mouth (bad experience in the past). I can now say I found that place. Leaha is so knowledgeable and made me feel relaxed during the whole process. I highly recommend this place.
- David ADr. Nels is a very caring and talented dentist. You will feel at ease at Magnolia Family Dentistry, I highly recommend them!
- Calli MI called them on Monday morning. They scheduled an appt Tues morning. Arrive and from front counter receptionist to the dentist were very professional. They made me feel at ease and were always asking if I was ok… and after explaining my past experiences with dentists Leaha made this visit overwhelmingly pleasant. Kudos to you Leaha and Jackie. I’ll be back to see you both and will definitely recommend to everybody I know. Thanks for all you guys did.
